COVID-19 Policy


March 13, 2020 (revised May 8, 2020 to further extend store credit window)    

Temporary Prom Exchange/Return Policy: While all prom dress purchases are normally considered final sales (as is standard for the special event industry), we understand that many prom events are being cancelled and that the possibility of being rescheduled is uncertain.

In light of these unprecedented circumstances, for those prom dress customers that choose not to participate in “Prom at Home” and alternate prom celebration events and no longer wish to keep their gowns, we are offering the option of full store credit or exchange through June 30, 2020 for all UNWORN AND UNALTERED prom dresses purchased between January 1, 2020 and May 15, 2020 for Prom 2020 events. This applies to both layaway items and direct sales.

All other regular terms of purchase still apply (all sales final on jewelry and undergarments, no exchanges/store credits if a customer’s event has already happened, etc.).  This only applies for purchases made for Prom 2020 events. Any dresses returned for store credit must be in new, sell-able condition with no signs of wear, and must include the hanger, garment bag, and all tags.  Dresses that show signs of wear or that have been altered are not eligible for exchange or store credit. Regular terms of purchase apply for all items purchased after May 15, 2020.

These store credits do not expire and can be used at either Memories Bridal & Evening Wear or The Prom Shop by Memories. Store credits will be issued in the form of a paper certificate that must be presented to be redeemed (lost store credit certificates cannot be reissued).  Dresses purchased at our seasonal Grandville location, The Prom Shop by Memories, may be exchanged at Memories Bridal & Evening Wear following the above guidelines.

As a small family business that relies heavily on prom sales for our annual income, the extended mandated business closures and loss of proms is hitting us incredibly hard (as is the case for so many small businesses in our community). We know that the current situation is hitting you hard as well and that a prom dress may no longer be wanted or needed. We are trying to be as flexible and accommodating as possible to show that we truly care and value our customers by offering store credit on these “sales final” items, but unfortunately NO REFUNDS CAN BE ISSUED, even in these extreme circumstances.  Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented situation.
